Forming the Past Tense

How to form the past tense of words.

To form the past tense of a word, you most often append "ed" to the end. Simply add a "d" if the word ends in "e". For example:

waited, delivered, needed, tinkered, kissed, licked, faded

However, there are probably more exceptions to this rule than words that conform:

ran, saw, drew, flew, drove, had

The only guidance I can provide is to memorize each instance and let a grammar checker find the errors for you.
